SCHOOL is the new artwork by the artist, created with a profound intention to further connect emotional education with the natural world.
The piece was inspired by the remarkable outcomes witnessed in kindergartens: when the artist visits classrooms and interacts with children, he observes the deep and lasting impressions these encounters leave behind.
Gonzalo shares:
“It’s amazing to talk and exchange environmental ideas with children. They learn so much from the artworks through their teachers that they actually inspire me to grow and keep creating.”
“It’s pure joy to harvest the fruits of so much planting. From a very young age, they are learning to study with extraordinary confidence.”
“Children absorb so quickly and want to tell me everything they know about the artworks—they are a springboard to environmental knowledge.”
“That’s why SCHOOL was born—because true learning begins inside the classroom.”
Main Objectives of the Artwork
1. Awakening Curiosity
SCHOOL invites children to ask questions and discover a world where animals, with their innocence, also wish to learn—reflecting children’s natural curiosity and fostering environmental awareness from an early age.
2. Emotional Education
Through the depiction of animals attending school together, the artwork highlights the importance of empathy, companionship, and emotional growth—teaching children to recognize and value their own emotions and those of others.
3. Art as a Bond
The artwork once again showcases the power of color and allows the biological study of the animals represented. It proposes art as a foundation to strengthen bonds among children, promoting care, collaborative learning, and empathy.
4. Imagination as a Tool
By introducing the fable that animals also go to school, SCHOOL stimulates imagination and enthusiasm for learning, allowing children to dream and understand the value of education in a playful and meaningful way.
In the artwork, an anteater, a white rhinoceros, a marsh deer, a giraffe, a Patagonian fox, and a Bengal tiger come together to go to school.
By studying these animals in depth, children will learn their characteristics, habitats, and whether they are endangered or not.
“Who says animals can’t go to school?”
“Where is it written that, through our imagination, animals cannot do so?”
“How wonderful it would be if all the schools in the world were connected—to learn, care for, and value everything we have…”
In the artist’s conviction: Yes! Everything is possible.
SCHOOL opens a world of learning, sharing, and teaching. These three vital elements for the artist are represented by three imaginary flowers within the artwork.
The piece stands as a vital bridge in emotional education, ensuring that the lessons learned in kindergarten extend and grow stronger through primary and secondary school. Through its characters—Rhyno, Tao, Hormiguito, Nube, Brinco, and Tiger—SCHOOL conveys essential values such as perseverance, empathy, curiosity, and acceptance.
Gonzalo’s challenge as an artist lies in fostering a deep educational transformation where effort and emotional education become fundamental pillars. SCHOOL invites schools to be places of encounter and continuous growth, strengthening children’s natural bonds and abilities, motivating them to return to school every day with joy and enthusiasm.
Furthermore, SCHOOL embraces environmental education, focusing on the study of endangered or transforming species. It highlights how nature continually contributes to human well-being, nurturing in children a profound connection with the environment and the importance of its preservation.
Thus, this artwork not only entertains but also inspires and contributes to positive change in education and in humanity’s relationship with nature—both in Argentina and around the world.
